Finding a low introductory rate credit card

Low introductory rate is usually offered to new cardholders to incentivise them to choose a particular credit card. This is why low introductory APR is a common feature. The period of time the introductory rate is good for varies from card to card - it is sometimes as short as 2 months, but is usually 6 months.

Borrowers with good credit may qualify for Blue from American Express(r) which offers a 0% introductory APR for the first six months. Other issuers include Chase and FirstUSA. Visit the complete credit card list for details.

In addition to finding out the timeframe for the introductory rate, you may want to check if the rate is good for new purchases, balance transfers, or both. Also, it may be a good idea to find out what the interest rate is once the initial period is over.
